The letters will be large so that the audience can clearly see the titles. The letters will be white in a black background with some sort of outline to give it some spice. Some credits will appear in the background of the setting. For example the credits may appear on the wall, or a table, or the sky. The title will be "R3VENGE". Planning Blog: Location, Participants, Health, Schedule

Image
For the location we were contemplating for about 30 minutes where an ideal location would be. We determined that considering our pitch, it would be wise for us to film at a park or in a common neighborhood. We decided that our first filming location would be North Andrews Park. It has the typical scenery that we are looking for. It is not a very busy place, and there are parks and roads where we can film. The people participating are myself (David), Corey, Chelsey, and Cailey. Although we have not established each others specific roles, we agreed that Corey, Chelsey, and Cailey would be one of the main characters. After discussing each other's schedules, we concluded that the week of spring break, would be the optimal time to start filming. Considering that we have the whole to ourselves, and no one is doing anything major that week. That week will be from March 18th - March 26th. We also concurred that it would be best to start filming during the day. But also we want to attempt

He proceeds to pull over on the side of the road.  Scene 3: Cailey then walks to the car and opens the door to the driver's side backseat and sits in the middle. Corey and Cailey now a driving to pick up Chelsey.  Scene 4: Corey is shown connecting his cell phone to the car Bluetooth to play some music while the two are driving to pick up Chelsey.  Scene 5: Chelsey is shown waiting outside to get picked up. She is shown receiving a text from Corey saying "I'm down the street." A long shot captures both Chelsey and Corey's car. The car arrives at Chelsey's location and she gets into the front passenger seat and says hi to Core

The second image is a room, with a chair mid-air, a demonic girl, then a yellow dirt-stained wall, where the title BH Productions appears. Furthermore, a live scenery of waves crashing against rocks on a coast is shown, at night. Lastly, a cliff with a house on top of it in the distance is shown, with the lights on inside.  Each of these images shown, do not carry any resemblance of happiness or joy, but rather, feelings of eeriness and suspense. The dark scenery of the waves makes the audience feel spooked even before the movie starts. In the very beginning a few seconds

A suspicious car and blood are shown, then we see empty playgrounds ad bikes. Finally, many missing posters or flyers of missing children are put up on the street. The images carry connotations of anxiety, and covey a terrifying feeling. The film establishes itself as a thriller in the very beginning when the black van approaches a kid riding their bike. One can notate that something is wrong through the was the facial

Title Research: Get Out

The titles ranged from the name of the studio, name of the production company, the film title, casting by, music by, costume designer, movie editor, production designer, the director of photography, who produced is, wrote it, and the director of the movie. Title Research: Parasite

Image
The opening sequence for this movie was found on artofthetitle.com. In the opening sequence of the film Parasite, there are many titles shown. About 12 titles are displayed in total. Each of the titles display the name of the actors, the production company and everyone that participated in the production of the movie. The images that are prioritized are the dirty windows and the socks that are hanging. In the sequence, the camera tilts down, onto one of the main character's as he is attempting to connect to the Wi-Fi, somewhat desperately or hurriedly. This is one of the only instances of connotations in the sequence. The outset is a little hard to understand, as the audience. Moreover, you question why we the audience are seeing a dirty window and walls, along with socks hanging, or why the main character is desperately attempting to connect to the Wi-Fi. I don't believe any extraordinary techniques were used to hook the audience through the opening sequence. Technology was ef

Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
While conducting my research on title sequences, I stumbled upon another website called Watchthetitles.com. Right off the bat I noticed that the website is very accessible website, user friendly. On the main page, it shows artists, some short background info on them and a summarization of their works. The main page also shows, title sequences for tv shows, films, video games, even student projects. AS well as designers and studios. There is a list of title sequences in the section called Title Sequences, that were made by creative directors and designers that specialize in tile sequences. Something I learned is that title sequences are unique, and peculiar. You never know what to expect, some titles scenes might include a curtain call, or a prelude. Moreover, title sequences have been done from an array of locations. Ranging from studios, to the homes of artists.

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
While researching the art of titles, I stumbled upon a website called artofthetitle.com. The website has many title designs, most of them being from newer films. On the website they show particular titles, and the artist behind it. An example is the title sequence for the She-Hulk series, and the artists directly telling their experience behind it. I researched a visual artist whos specializes in title designs , Michal DeForge. He has done title designs for various films. He claims that while working on title designs, he likes to have music playing spontaneously, in no fixed order. While conducting my research I noticed certain patterns with every title sequence. Each title had amazing, vivid color and images. Also, no title sequence had a fixed pattern of drawings, or shapes, everything was placed in a sort of random motif.

Movie Conventions Research: Halloween

Image
Particular elements pertaining to thriller that I chose to base my final task on is close-ups, pan shots, medium shots, tilts, and wide shots. Moreover, establishing shots, canted shots and tracking shots. Regarding, Mis-En-Scene, this movie used costumes that common people wear, lighting for most of the movie was sudden in most scenes, and setting, which took place in a typical American town. The movie included jump-cuts, cross, cutting, dialogue, diegetic and non-diegetic sound, voice overs, and sound bridges throughout the film.  The parts of thriller that I enjoyed seeing in this movie were the sound motifs used when Michael Myers appeared suddenly out of the corner of the screen. As well as the ambient sound that would play in the background.  Certain aspects of this movie that I did not enjoy, however, is that they tried to jam to many events and scenes to the point that it was overwhelming for that specific running time. Or the fact that children were in peril, was somewhat une

Movie Conventions Research: Scream

Image
The movie Scream contains elements of Thriller that I chose to base my final task on such as close-ups, medium log shots, low angles, high angles, establishing shots, and canted shots. In terms of Mis-En-Scene, the movie contains dark lighting, a spooky setting, and props such as costumes that common folk would wear. Certain editing techniques such as shot reverse shots, cross cutting, and cutaways, diegetic sound, non-diegetic sound, all help induce feelings of anxiety in the audience throughout the film. The elements of thriller that I enjoyed were the many jump scares and unexpected plot twists. Which really made me question the characters'' next move, and when the villain would make such a sudden appearance again. In this movie, I did not enjoy the excess gore throughout some of the scenes. There were certain gory scenes, that were not too exaggerated, that most could watch.

Movie Conventions Research: Old

Image
The movie Old has common elements of thriller such as close-ups up shots, long and wide shots, low and high angles, and extreme close-ups. Editing techniques seem such as cross-cutting dissolves, jump cuts, and shot reserve shots were used. Finally, sound such as dialogue, diegetic and non-diegetic sound, and ambient sound was utilized.  Certain elements of thriller that I saw in the movie that I enjoyed, was the suspense and jump-scares. As well as the feeling of uncertainty, not knowing what would happen next. Lastly, the unexpected plot twist was probably my favorite aspect. The one thing I did not enjoy about the movie was the load of gore in some of the scenes. That's one of the few elements of thriller that I do not regularly enjoy.

Genre Decision Blog

Image
Comedy is a unique genre that incorporates high and low angles, as well as close-ups to focalize on the main character. As well as any relationships they might have with others. Many times in comedy, the actors will play characters that my look silly, or end up in silly situations. Their costumes or looks may be exaggerated for comedic purposes. Foolish or idiotic sound effects may be added, during fast-paced transitioning scenes. As most comedy films, it does not stick to the same scene, or same scenario for more than a few minutes.  Suspense is a particular genre that induces feelings of excitement or nervousness in the audience. It causes the audience to anticipate a nerve-racking scene or occurrence in the film. This genre utilizes pan angles long and wide shots, and most of the scenes are slow-paced, done so to generate feelings of suspense and fear. In suspense, the actor may play a regular character, with a normal appearance, but the behavior of the character in some instances

Group Blog 2023

In my group, I decided that I would work with three people. They would be people I've already known for quite some time. That are not lazy and very productive people. I am working with my friends Corey, Chelsey, and Cailey. The three of whom I met last year. I met Corey in my biology class Chelsey, I met in my math class. Cailey I met through mutual friends. I started to maintain better contact with her throughout the last month. I am working with Corey because he is very passionate about film and film editing. After school some days he'll spend hours working on editing a clip from a show or movie. He has a very artistic and creative perspective on things which is why I decided to work with him. He doesn't procrastinate, and on average finishes his film projects in a day or two at the most. Moreover, I decided to work with Chelsey because she is an overall hard worker. She is a very smart individual in the many classes that I have with her. There have been times where

Intro Blog: First Blog of 2023!

Hello there, I am David Vidal. Today it's been about 4 and a half months since I posted my first blog. These last few months I've gained knowledge on angles, shots, editing, and camera movements that I had not anticipated at the beginning of this course. Above that, I've gained knowledge on how struggles in films and tv shows such as gender differences. How they tie to all the shots, angles and camera movements and how to interpret that. I also expanded very much on my creative side, considering that I am not a creative person by nature. As it is required when filming or brainstorming ideas for filming media. Throughout the last 2 media projects I've assumed the role of cameraman, and it has been a tremendous experience. Part of being a cameraman it comes with that slight pressure that I must execute the scene I'm filming without error, which is something I've enjoyed. Furthermore, as cameraman I've learned to put myself in the audience's shoes. Fo
