Movie Conventions Research: Scream

The movie Scream contains elements of Thriller that I chose to base my final task on such as close-ups, medium log shots, low angles, high angles, establishing shots, and canted shots. In terms of Mis-En-Scene, the movie contains dark lighting, a spooky setting, and props such as costumes that common folk would wear. Certain editing techniques such as shot reverse shots, cross cutting, and cutaways, diegetic sound, non-diegetic sound, all help induce feelings of anxiety in the audience throughout the film.

The elements of thriller that I enjoyed were the many jump scares and unexpected plot twists. Which really made me question the characters'' next move, and when the villain would make such a sudden appearance again.

In this movie, I did not enjoy the excess gore throughout some of the scenes. There were certain gory scenes, that were not too exaggerated, that most could watch.
