Creative Critical Reflection Blog

 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My music video uses conventions, by utilizing high and low angles, as do most top tier music videos. Also, in the music video, the entire video had a gloomy feel or vibe to it, which is seen in many Alternative Rap/Rock songs. Lastly, the mood of the music video shifts a lot, the music video goes from a sad mood, to a happy mood, to an optimistic mood.  2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?? My music video engages the audience, by giving the audience a story. Then giving the story context, so that the person watching isn't left wondering, what is happening during the video. The music video would be distributed through an array of media platforms, such as YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Vimeo, etc.  3. How did you production skills develop throughout this project? I became more organized with my production skills, overa

Production Blog: Final Filming Day

Image
I, Chelsey, and Corey were able to follow through with our final filming day. We filmed after school, on Friday, December 16. There was a slight setback, because the park where I was going to originally film them, Caporella Park, was closed, due to construction reasons. Corey had suggested that we instead go to North Andrews Neighborhood Park. It is about 1-2 miles from Caporella Park, so everyone agreed to it. Another slight setback, for whatever reason, the main road that led to the park, was completely shut down by county police. As well as any intersection within a two-mile circumference. That delayed me about a couple minutes, same with Corey and Chelsey. I did not bring many props other than my cellphone to film Corey and Chelsey, and some water bottles to keep us hydrated. Corey originally was supposed to bring a tripod to help me film but was unable to find it. In total, I filmed about 5 scenes of Corey and Chelsey. It took about 30 minutes more or less, to film those sho

After filming Corey for the first time, I realized that we would need to add a lot more variety of scenes and shots to this project. If we wanted even the slightest chance of doing superb on this music video. I just finished discussing with Corey and Chelsey regarding filming again. This time, Chelsey will be able to film along with Corey and I, as she was absent from the last filming session. My group and I were supposed to film yesterday, December 15th after school, however Chelsey had to cancel due to family reasons. I asked her and Corey if Caporella Park would still worked, and they said yes. They also said that 10:00 in the morning would be an idealistic time for our filming session to start. As mentioned in the previous blog, I will be filming the nostalgic scene of our music video. Corey and Chelsey will be filmed having a good time at the park, enjoying the moment as friends. In regards to props, there will be a few props being used, but not a lot. First prop that will b

Production Blog: Not Able to Film

Image
After the first filming session where I filmed Corey, I decided that I would need another day or two to film Corey again. This time however, Chelsey would be a part of the filming process. As she was not able to be present the last time I filmed. I discussed with Corey and Chelsey what days work for them, a few days ago. Chelsey stated that she would be available and Wednesday and Thursday. Corey stated that from Monday through Thursday he would be available. We had previously planned to film again today, Wednesday, December 14th. However, I just finished telling them that Wednesday would not work for me. Due to the fact that I have after-school tutoring for chemistry. I have a chemistry test tomorrow, that I am partially prepared for, and I'm trying to be completely prepared. On a brighter note, I am already planning to film again tomorrow, after school, along with Chelsey and Corey. I will start filming again tomorrow, at around 4:00-4:30 p.m., and I will stop filming at aro

Filming Blog: First Filming Day

I was able to start filming Corey on Saturday, December 10th. Corey came over to my house to start filming around 1:30 in the afternoon. I finished my filming session of Corey for that day at around 4:00.  The filming session took about 2 hours, with a 30 minute break in between. Out of the 12 scenes that we drafted on the storyboard, I was able to film about 6 out of 12 scenes. I filmed in total, about 53 scenes during that session. I filmed the same scene on average, 3-5 times. I would film the same scenes using different angles, movement, and shots. For example, for one scene, I did a tracking shot of Corey walking into his bedroom. Then proceeding to lay down. For that exact scene I filmed him, except I filmed him walking into the room, and laying down on the bed as two different scenes. There were a couple of bloopers, like for instance, I'd be filming Corey and randomly we'd start laughing. One thing I found easy was filming the scene, although it did require a great

Production Blog: Location and Time Confirmed

I have been able to up the progress so far of this filming project even though I haven't started filming yet. I just discussed with my group members, once again pertaining to the filming location and the time. It seems that I will be filming Corey, and probably Chelsey over the weekend on December 10th and 11th. On the 10th which is a Saturday, we will most likely be filming from 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, or somewhere within that timeframe. If I were to film on Sunday, which may or may not happen depending on how far my group and I get, I would film most likely in the early to late afternoon. So most likely around 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. I will be filming Corey at my house in my bedroom. For one of the scenes, I might film Corey at the park, although him and I are still debating over that. I am awaiting a response from our other group member, Chelsey. Whether or not if she will be able to film on Saturday, and probably Sunday as well. In the case which Chelsey

Production Blog: No Filming Progress So Far

So far in these last two weeks, I have gotten zero progress done in terms of filming. I tried to get together with my group over Thanksgiving break, but one of the members was unable to, because he was working out of town. I tried to get to together with my group these last two weekends after thanksgiving break, but unfortunately that was unsuccessful too. During the last week and a half, I've been planning with them a date and location that would be suitable for us. I proposed that we could film either at my house or Corey's house, as Chelsey's house is not a suitable option according to her. I'm hoping that this coming weekend would work, or as soon as possible. I will most likely start filming on Sunday, as this is the day that my group members are also available. Due to this music video project being a lengthier project, and due to me being the cameraman, filming this will take a couple hours to ensure the best quality of film possible. My plan is, on Sunday, hopef

First Scene -  In the first scene, during the first 4 beats, the title Are we still friends, will appear in white font on a black screen. There are 4 beats in the beginning, in which each word of the title Are we still friends, will appear consecutively with the beat. This scene will last about 5 seconds Second Scene -  The scene then transitions, we will use a fade in during this transition. At the beginning of this scene, a slight pan will be utilized, and a medium long shot will also be used. The camera will pan, Corey's movement of him opening the door, entering his room, until he reaches the bed, and proceeds to lay down. This scene will last about 15-25 seconds.  Third Scene -  Corey is shown laying in his bed, and relaxing and cooling off from the hard day of his. This will be shown through an establishing shot, close-up, high angle, and medium shot. This scene will last about 5-10 seconds. Fourth Scene -  The scene cuts to Corey putting his headphones on and selecting mus
