Intro Blog

        Hello, I am David Vidal, you can address me as David. I like soccer, money, family, TV series, eating, and exercising. I am Brazilian-American, born in the U.S.A. to Brazilian immigrants. On the weekends, I enjoy sleeping for as long as possible, typically for a half day. Every day, the best way I enjoy starting my morning off, is by making a delicious breakfast. Every day it might be something different, from oatmeal, to eggs, pancakes, fruit, bacon, bread, and milk. Every weekend, I attend and help out at my church with the youth program they have going on there. I joined AICE Media Studies because it seemed interesting, and I had heard from others that it was an easy class. So far, I find this class uniquely fascinating, from the different camera angles to examining story boards. I never thought that cinematography could ever be so complex. My long-term goal for this class, is to learn everything possible about how movies and tv shows are made. Maybe, with that knowledge that I gain I will apply it to something relevant in my life like a project. In all honesty, my mind is always filled with crazy ideas that I've wanted to post on YouTube for instance but had no knowledge to execute that desire. I feel like that will change through this class. More so, we live in an era where technology dominates every aspect of life. I believe I am doing myself a favor, by learning about a particular sector of this technology. Something that I'm relieved about pertaining to this class, is that I'm surrounded by smart people, who I know that working with will not drag my progress down. Typically, when I hear that there will be a project assigned, I get frustrated. But the projects that I heard that will happen in this class, seems fun and exciting. One of the reasons why, it's because there is not necessarily a rubric to follow. Obviously, there are guidelines, but the whole project, which we will do, is up to us.

Taking Inspirations from other Films

 The weekend that the group and I were supposed to film. As previously stated it had to be postponed. This is because my group member Teo couldn't make it. Since he had plans with some friend of girlfriend which he prioritized more than the filming date. I decided that I wanted to be productive and draw some inspiration. I decided to go the movie theater along with a pal of mine from church. I watched the new Bob Marley movie with him which was late at night. The movie started around 10:00 at night and ended at midnight. Instead of laying back, relaxing and just lazy-mindedly watching the film. I payed attention to the camera angles, the different shots, and the non-diegetic and diegetic sounds used throughout the film. I took much inspiration especially on the medium shots and medium close up shots. What Went Down While Filming

 As stated in the previous blog, filming was done on Saturday, 3/3/2024. The filming once again occurred at Corvelest's house. I was able to finish filming the dialogue scene. Which was between the protagonist (Teo) and antagonist (Corvelest) characters. I was able to get up until right before the pre-climax scene. Filming that pre-climax was scene took a while. I basically filmed the protagonist walking into the kitchen and grabbing a beverage for the antagonist. However, I had to shoot him doing that from a variety of angles, and lighting. In terms of lighting, the first time the lighting from the ceiling was brighter. I shot the same scene again but in darker lighting. The ceiling lights have lights that can adjust so I played around with a bit. I filmed the same scene a third time and it was the darkest one this time. Also, when the protagonist goes to open the fridge, I filmed from an angle where the camera is above the protagonist and he's on the right side of the screen....
